How This Product Will Make Your Life Easy
High Quality Soldering Helping Hands
Soldering Helping Hands – 4 Flexible Arm PCB Holder for Electronic Repair KSA is a versatile soldering arm that supports printed circuit boards of various shapes and sizes for easy soldering and electronic repairs.
When soldering electronic components, 3 hands are needed: one holding the soldering iron, one holding the solder wire and the third holding the circuit board steady. The two hands are all we have, so if we don’t get it to bend, the circuit board slides, the wire moves or the component drops out in the middle of the solder.
This soldering helping hands station does just that: four separate flexible arms that provide alligator clamps that secure PCB boards, wires, components, and connectors precisely where you place them and keep them in place throughout the entire soldering process.
The sturdy table clamp base is attached to any desk edge (5-50 mm thick) and can rotate 360 degrees, giving you a chance to make the arms into any configuration. Flexible goosenecks bend and stay bent at ball-joint segments, allowing parts to be placed at any desired angle, height, and orientation for easy soldering access.
Alligator clips provide a secure grip without damage to PCB boards and delicate wires. Alligator clips provide non-damaging, secure clipping of fine and delicate wires and PCB boards. The tension adjustment wrench comes with it to adjust arm stiffness up or down, stiff for heavy PCB boards for solid support, or looser for lighter wires for gentle positioning.
Uses of Soldering Helping Hands
Attach to Desk: Place the table clamp on the edge of your desk (in a place where you can access it from all sides). Adjust the clamp screw until the base is securely placed on the desk and cannot move. Test for stability by pressing down on the clamp; if it rocks or moves, it’s not stable.
Mount Arms to Base: Place the ball-socket end of each flexible arm into the holes in the base. Some models have screw-tightened connections; others have push-fit sockets. Be sure to put the arms into a proper lock before loading components.
Add Additional Components: Connect the other 3 arms to add wires, hold connectors, stabilize components, or make heat shields. Set up the arms complementary to that to get access to the solder joint from your dominant-hand soldering iron angle.
Soldering Work: Use both hands to hold the soldering iron (dominant hand) and the solder wire (other hand), with the components held in place. The third hand soldering tool keeps everything in place, so that focused attention can be given to creating clean solder joints without concern of component movement.
Rotating for Different Angles: Rotate the base as a whole unit 90–180 degrees, not adjusting each arm independently to get to different sides of the board. The 360° rotation reduces time during multiple joint soldering operations.
Other Important Features and Advantages
Four independent flexible arms (275-300 mm each) for independent positioning of PCB boards, wires, components, and connectors. Flexible arm soldering helping hands design enables multi-angle access while holding the device simultaneously, which is not possible in a 2-arm system. No drift in each arm (ball-joint friction).
Silicone-Protected Alligator Clips: Soft silicone-covered clips that will not mar PCB boards, crush wire insulation, or harm leads to components. Protection for surface-mount components, which are found on many electronics repair jobs and are fragile, as well as expensive phone motherboards (SAR 200-800).
Heavy Duty Table Clamp: This clamp, which is screwed to the edge of desks from 5–50 mm thick, stops the desk from tipping or slipping while the clamp is in use. Greater stability than other weighted bases that fail to stand when the arms are placed beyond the radius of the base weight. This is not a desk ornament; it is a soldering station!
360° Rotating Base: All arm assembly rotates on the base mount, allowing reorientation of the components without unclamping. Turn the board around so that you can view it, so that you can solder on it, or so that you can magnify or photograph it. Saves 5-10 minutes per session compared to fixed position stands.
Multi-Industry Application: Electronics repair, hobby electronics, drone building, jewelry making, model building, craft assembly, and precision manufacturing. The most versatile soldering tool that can be used in any small-parts holding industry without hands.
FAQs
Q1: What tool is provided in the package to mount this soldering helping hands to a desk?
Ans: Table Clamp: This comes with a clamp that can be screwed onto any desk edge 5–50 mm thick. Proper stability: This clamp is not like suction cups or weighted bases, where the stand can slide and tip, but is superior in this respect.
Q2: How many flexible hinged arms are included in this soldering tool?
Ans: Four-Arm System: has 4 arms of 275 mm and 300 mm. Maximised Versatility: PCB boards, components, wires and heat shields can all be placed in the hands of the 2 arms simultaneously, which is a major step up from the standard 2-arm models.
Q3: What component is used to hold the electronics, and how many are included?
Ans: Number of clips: 4 alligator clips. Universal Grip: The spring-loaded design ensures that the edges of the PCB (1- 3 mm), different wire gauges, and small electronic components are securely fixed.
Q4: How are the alligator clamps protected to prevent damaging sensitive parts?
Ans: Silicone Sleeves: All clips have a protective silicone sleeve over the metal teeth. Damage Prevention: Evenly distributes the pressure so as not to scratch the PCB traces, crush the insulation of wires, or damage the fragile leads of costly electronics.
Q5: What is the purpose of the included small wrench in this third hand soldering tool?
Ans: Custom Control: The wrench included is for tightening and loosening the arm joints. Tailored Performance: For holding heavy boards, you can adjust the tension to be stiffer, and for positioning delicate wire, you can loosen the tension to ensure that the arms remain in the position you set.
